Textured Ceramic Bud Vase, Handmade Turquoise Coral Glaze Pottery, Small Coastal Vessel, Unique Gift
Incl. BTW
A small handmade ceramic bud vase in turquoise and violet, covered in a reactive glaze that beads into hundreds of raised droplets like coral, barnacles or sea-worn stone. One of a kind, hand-built and fired in my home studio in Katwijk aan Zee, Netherlands.
About this piece
A soft fold runs from the rim down the front of the vessel, and where the glaze gathers along that ridge it turns to warm amber-gold — a single bright line through all the blue. The rim is left uneven, notched where the fold meets the top edge, so the piece reads as something grown rather than something manufactured.
The glaze is reactive and does its own work in the kiln: it crawls away from itself and beads up, letting the copper-brown clay show through in the gaps. Turquoise over violet where it lies thick, pale sea green where it thins out. I can steer it, but I can't repeat it — which is why there is only one of these.
The inside is glazed smooth in deep blue.

How to use it
As a bud vase for a single stem, dried grasses, a sprig of eucalyptus or a small loose bunch. As a pen pot or brush pot on a desk. As a holder for make-up brushes on a bathroom shelf. Or simply empty, as a small sculptural object where the light can travel across the texture — that is honestly when it looks best.
Care
Hand wash only. Not dishwasher or microwave safe. Clean the textured surface with a soft brush rather than a cloth.
Made by hand, start to finish
