The firing: where clay comes alive
After weeks of forming, drying, and glazing comes the most exciting moment: the firing. At over 1200°C the glazes melt and the deep colors that characterize my work emerge.
Sea sculptures: inspired by Katwijk
My whale sculptures are born from a fascination with the sea near Katwijk. The humpbacks and orcas are glazed in tones that suggest the water surface.
Canal houses and tulip vases
Besides the lace bowls and sea sculptures, I also create smaller works: ceramic canal houses and sculptural tulip vases. Each piece tells a story of Dutch heritage.
