Knopvaas Birch Bark

Handmade wine ceramic bud vase, small sculptural piece hand-pinched with horizontal ridged texture, finished in deep wine-red, rose-pink, copper and pearl-cream glaze. One of a kind, made in the Netherlands by a mother-and-son studio. Only one exists in the world. Once it's sold, it's gone. Like a slice of birch bark dipped in mulled wine. Horizontal ridges wind around the body like tree rings, catching the reactive glaze in alternating bands of deep wine and soft pearl-pink, with warm copper veins running through the lower half. The reactive glaze pools, drips and crystallises in the kiln, leaving glassy textures and tiny rust-coloured tideline marks. At 12 cm tall, this is a perfect bud-vase size, generous enough for a single rose, a few tulips, or a small dried bouquet, yet sculptural enough to display alone as a quiet object.
