A vase built as a layered mountain range: ridged plateaus of clay in glazes of coral, ruby, sage, copper and wisteria. From a distance, the horizon of a far-off coast; up close, peaks following each other in layers.
Each layer is hand-built and glazed individually, then forty-eight hours in the atelier's kiln. No moulds, no second chances. Eighteen centimetres tall, just as wide — small in scale, with the presence of sculpture.
Made by hand in Katwijk aan Zee.
